Students who are assessed using the New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) may exit high school with the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential which is not a diploma. This credential recognizes students’ skills and achievements in academics, career development, and other foundations needed for post-school living, learning, and working. It may be awarded any time after the student has attended school for at least 12 years, excluding kindergarten, or at the end of the school year in which the student attains the age of 22.
